Korean Drama?

During 1970-1990s, when Internet, stream video, downloading tool isn’t a hit yet to Malaysia, radio and television are sources we received news and entertainment. With no doubt, television drama especially from HKG can be said to be our 精神粮食 (meal for our spirit). While eating dinner (show time of 6-8pm drama), everyone is holding with a bowl of rice and the eyes is facing to the television.

Today, I read 1 post from Weibo as below:

【看韩剧的人收入低？】首尔大学教授姜明求的研究称，青睐韩国与台湾地区电视剧的中国观众，趋向于低收入和低学历，而这些观众之所以爱看韩剧，是因为部分韩剧逻辑性较差，观看时无需动脑子，可以单纯的“感情发泄”。而高学历、高收入观众喜欢“理性而轻松”的电视剧，因此多选择观看美剧。(时代周报)

[People watch Korean drama lead to low income?] Professor from Seoul University found that: those Chinese citizens who prefer Korea and Taiwan region drama are usually in low income and low academic performance band. These people who love Korean drama is because of Korean drama isn’t logic, so people can just watching for relax and distress because low usage of brain. For those high academic performance and high income audience more prefer “relax and logical” drama, so usually they choose American drama.

After read above comment of research outcome, what do you think?

My 1^st impression is: Serious?

Although not a K-pop fans, but I watch Korean drama too. Below are some of my opinion to Korean drama:

(a)    Too lovely, too romantic (early 2000s, when Korean drama is a hit, cry from episode1 to episode 20 seems is a MUST)

(b)   Too complicated (why must have 4 characters love relationship? And the story line is almost the same for every drama)

(c)    Too dragging (a story that can finish in 15 episodes but drag up to 40 episodes)

(d)   Cinderella kind of story line …..

(e)   Illogical (maybe)

However, all above seems has a change for past few years (although some characteristic of Korean drama still remain). Below are some of my observation from lately Korean drama:

(a)    More occupational/ interest driven story (e.g Medical, Musical kind of story line)

(b)   More political driven story (e.g North-South Korea relationship?)

(c)    More betray and revenge kind of story

Compared to American, and Japanese drama, obviously Korean drama still have a lot of room for improvement. As Japanese drama, enforce on high quality of script and bring in a lot of real life example. (I seldom watch American drama, can’t comment any, paiseh). But overall, Korean drama shouldn’t fall to “Low Brain” drama criteria, it is more to audience choice of drama they chosen.

Anyway, A BIG APPLAUSE give to Korean drama maker’s efforts and contributions. FIGHTING !!!! Beat above professor’s comments and produce more and higher quality drama.

At here, I would like to especially thank to Air Asia. It brings Malaysian to have more opportunity to travel domestically and internationally (as you know, air ticket isn't cheap with Malaysia national carrier 10 years ago). Air Asia really makes “Everyone can fly”.

100 Doraemon Secret Gadget Expo

Today, I visited "100 Doraemon Secret Gadget Expo" at Viva Home (1 of Malaysia famous Home Decoration, Renovation accessories center).


FYI:
Event period: Until 23 Mar 2014 (still have 1 month to go only)
Location: Viva Home (Expo Hall at 2nd floor)
Admission Fee: RM 25.00 (Adult), RM 15.00 (Child)

I saw people bring 5 headlines of Newspaper Sin Chew Jit Poh and they can redeem a free gift of Doraemon from counter.
Arrr, unfortunately, I didn't get it (because I don't have the headlines)

I have bought the entrance ticket since Dec 2013 via My Ticket, but I only visit this expo today (too busy for year end trip, Chinese New Year and etc).

I believe if you are born at 1980- 2000, you must be one of the fans of Doraemon.
Doraemon comics and movies did give me a very memorable life and dreams during my school times.
"The robot cat" invent and keep dozens of small, tiny but powerful items/ machines in its yojigen pockets (八宝袋）。
The way Doraemon help its master (Nobita) with its powerful tools, make me feel there is wonders in the world if I can have the same machine as well.

Moreover, I am really touch with morale of every story:
1) Nobita is always mis-used the gadget from Doraemon, and he also learn from his mistake (but the story always begin with Nobita only want shortcut [fast and quick fix help] from Doraemon
2) The bad/ naughty one will always get punished (e.g Gian and Suneo- both bully and annoying rich boys)
3) Nobita finally became an engineer although his grades is low during his school time (it really means he pays a lot of hard work when he grow up).

During the expo, besides taking pictures of Doraemon and also recall these tools and my full of memorable childhood.
Haha, I still can recall every day I save RM 1.00 and in 1 week I can utilize that RM 5.00 for a comic. (Those time ...............)

However, if the event can bring more display to exhibit, it will be much better.
Because besides 100 Doraemon, there are too few characters of the comics and too little posture of these display are being exhibit.

Anyway, it still make my day, I feel really happy. :)

P.S. Try not to go to the expo on weekend, because there is too many parent bring their children/ many couples/ friends & families to this event. Can you imagine, there is already a queue of 100 people before the event start.
It is really hard for you to take pictures, because you need to wait quite sometime.

Hello everyone. Thanks for visiting this site.

I am R, can called me Rebecca also.
22 Feb 2014, without a strong reason, I created a blog account. A very not me action.

So, who am I? I am not good to describe myself, so I did a few searches on "Brief introduction/ About me,...." to start this 1st post.
Thinking, thinking, thinking,.....

I am Malaysian, not high on IQ and EQ.
My English isn't good also. At least I didn't get IELTS band 6 and above. Please correct me if you find any errors on spelling and grammar.

Very stubborn and have endless energy (my friends and my family comment me this way). Yes it is true and only applicable when I have targets and objectives.
But I will be like a deflated balloon when I lost targets.

My parent also complaint my programming minded. Because I always answer e.g "It suppose to be like this", "Logically .... like that", "If .... then .... or else ....".
Until they said "Your brain only have symbols? " {, //, (, >
So, you know why "Not a very me action" in 2nd line above. Lol, because it is not logic.....

Am I a programmer? Am I a statistician? No, I am not.
I am not really enjoy numbers, figures, but I deal with it everyday.
I do not practice "Work with your passion". But I "Make my work as my passion and continue"

What more.... Ahhhhhhhh, friends commented I am a "WORKAHOLIC".
Oh no, I am absolutely not. However, I broke up 2 relationships because of so called too like to work.
